Time off

Just because you have vacation, it doesn’t mean your month is any easier. It only means you will work just as hard in a fewer number of days..

Sharps exposure

The second you receive the notice that the person whose blood you were exposed to is HCV positive, your heart skips a few beats. It seems less stressful to skip the exposure steps altogether.

DOC exposure

Even if you’ve been exposed to dozens of other patients’ blood through sharps, it’s not the same when you are exposed to a DOC patient’s blood. Your heart sinks when you stick yourself with a blade that’s just been used on a DOC patient because of the rampant prevalence of HBV, HCV, and HIV.

As a side note, be careful when securing a blade with the plastic cap provided in the kit; the blade may just go through the cap and into your finger.
