To test whether a city could tolerate a Concorde–flying at supersonic speed–taking off and landing in a populated city, Operation Bongo II was conducted over Oklahoma City. This meant that for 6 months, 8 sonic booms were carried out over the city, disrupting a lot of lives and shattering windows. People did not receive it well.
